Wedding Wednesday!

Good morning! And happy hump day! (I don’t know why I wrote that, I hate the term “Hump Day.” It’s stupid!) ANNNNNNNYYYYYYWAY,

We still have a few odds and ends to tie up, but everything seems to be coming together nicely for next weekend. Let’s just hope like hell it stays that way!

– The Mom and I are going to talk about and hopefully finish up the wedding programs  today.

– We need to finish up the boxes for the out of town guests. I’ve worried about these so much, but I think they’re going to like what we’ve put together.  I would want it if I had to shack up at a hotel in Demopolis, Alabama for a whole weekend!

– I have my shower this weekend, and I’m SO EXCITED about it! I can’t wait to see everybody! I’m so ready for The Bestie to show her face! And to drink mimosas.  And to open gifts. Yep, it’s gonna be a good one!

If there’s one thing I’ve learned throughout this whole wedding process, it’s that you can’t please everybody.  As bad as I wanted, it just wasn’t feasible to have everybody be a bridesmaid, or go on the bachelorette trip.  At some point, you have to draw the line.  I knew where that line was.  I’m sorry if feelings got hurt, but that’s life!

If they were my friend to begin with, they’ll still be my friend at the end.  There are much more important things in life.  It’s just not feasible to try to please everybody all of the time!

– I’m starting to piece together a timeline for the weekend. I know nobody will follow it, things just don’t happen like that, but at least we’ll have something tentative to go by! Apparently I’m a bit of a control freak.  Who knew?? I’m working on it, but let’s just all pray and cross our fingers and toes that NOBODY GETS OFF OF THE SCHEDULE!!!!!! I’m pretty sure they all know there will be hell to pay if they don’t do what Lucinda and I say next weekend! I’ve already informed The Boy that his goals for the weekend are                                1) Do what I say.                                                                                                         2) Don’t do anything to piss me off, make me cry, etc.  He’s been warned!

– In all seriousness, I just want everybody to get along and have a blast! I’m sure with the group of people that we’ve chosen to be in the wedding, that won’t be a problem at all!

– I can start checking the 10 day forecast TOMORROW! Eeeekkk! I know that the weather is beyond my control, but I would still like to have some inkling of what it’s going to be like.WeddingDayRain Maybe I should invest in a cute umbrella, just in case!

I haven’t exercised yet today, but I’m thinking of going for a walk in a little while.  I just hope the wind isn’t blowing like crazy! Last time I tried to run in it, I looked like I got hit in the face with a broom! I guess it’s not that big of deal considering the fact that I have a huge dog scratch on it now! It hurts, but you can barely see it, so it’s all good.

Have a great Wednesday everybody!

A Winning Weekend

Hey hey! How has everybody’s weekend been? Mine has been awesome so far!

On Friday, The Mom and I went shopping in Montgomery, Alabama for some wedding things.  We FINALLY found a dress for her.  It was our 4th one! Annnnnd we have a winner!

Friday night included a bachelorette party for my friend Morgan that’s getting married on April the 6th! So many weddings, so little time! There may be pictures, but they’re probably definitely not internet material!

Saturday morning, I came home early to fix a wedding-related crisis.  I had accidentally left a couple of people off of the seating chart for the rehearsal dinner, so we fixed that.  Then I wrote thank you notes.  My hand may fall off before all of this is over and done! We’ve gotten some really great gifts though, and I’m so thankful for everything everyone is doing us to help with the wedding/showers, etc!

Saturday afternoon, The Mom and I drove to Gallion, Alabama where our family owns an old house.  They’re planning on fixing it up to be kind of like a camphouse, so we did a little cleaning while The Daddy (I tried to just put Dad, but I can’t do it! I’m definitely Southern!) mowed the grass.  I got a short walk/run in on the country road, and then I spent a good 20 minutes taking selfies.  I wasn’t bored or anything, was I? For your viewing pleasure: IMAG0245 Sorry for the cleavage pic! And I look like a mad scientist with the hairdo! But it was windy!

Anyway, I just got caught up with the thank you notes!! I also sent The Boy a timeline for the wedding week.  I’m sure he’s beyond thrilled to receive that!

I plan on spending this afternoon going for a run (I’m on day 4 of training for this!) And then I plan on watching some Downton Abbey! Have y’all seen this show yet? I’m at the end of season 2 and it’s awesome! It makes me want to run around talking in a British accent! Speaking of, I think I need to run to the loo!

DowntownHave a great Sunday!

It’s Time

Happy Thursday!

I’ve been doing some researching and I think I’ve found a training plan for my 10k! It wasn’t hard, I’ve only used Hal Higdon training plans, so that seemed like the thing to do.  Here’s the plan that I’ll be following. HalHigdon10kTraining2.  I tried to post a picture of it, but I’m computer ignorant and can’t figure it out.

Anyway, I think I’m going to go ahead and start today.  Thursday of week 1 calls for a 2 mile run + strength training.  Shouldn’t be an issue.  I’m heading out the door in 5 for CrossFit. That will count as my strenth.  And the weather is supposed to be awesome this afternoon, so I have to get up off my butt and GO!

By the way, how bright am I today? Just a freaking ray of sunshine! I’m quite the little fashionista, too.  Blue bra, pink shirt, purple pants AND purple socks.  It’s time to do a load or two of laundry, don’t ya think? At least neons are “in” for workout clothes right now!IMAG0222

By the way, have y’all seen this? Snooki Loses 42 Pounds

Not who you want your children to be like, but you know y’all used to watch some Jersey Shore! It was definitely my guilty pleasure.  Who wouldn’t like watching all of those big gorillas get drunk?! Anyway, I think it’s awesome that she’s lost weight!

Also, have y’all heard this song? I’m so obsessed with it right now.  Speaking of music, I’ve GOT to get on downloading some songs!

Imagine Dragons – It’s Time

Oh shit! (Can I even cuss on here? What the hell, it’s my blog! I can if I want.) I just looked on the little sidebar and there are only 16 days left until the WEDDING. I had a small anxiety attack.

Anyway, I’m out! Have a great day!

I’ve Got A Plan

So, we’ve had internet issues today, which is NOT what I want to happen when I’ve just started the coolest blog on the net.  Anyway, AT&T graciously came back and got us hooked up again.  So now I have absolutely nothing to do but annoy the crap out of the two random people that are reading this!

As some of you may know, I’m getting hitched in 24 days.  I’m sure every single one of you have that date etched in your memory and will never forget it, too! I am surprisingly not stressed at all right this second.  That doesn’t mean that I won’t break down and have an anxiety attack in 10 minutes about how long the aisle at the First United Methodist church is. Until then, I’ve made a plan of attack!

THE PLAN

I’ve made a workout plan for each day this week that includes two to three miles of cardio and a little bit of strength training.  So far, I’ve done really well! Here’s what I’ve got:

Monday – Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred Level 1 and run 2 miles. Check!

Tuesday – Jillian Michaels Ripped in 30 Level 1 and walk 3 miles.  Check again! Granted, The Boy and I walked ourselves to the coffee shop where I bought a sugar30DS filled iced coffee, but it’s the thought that counts, right?

Wednesday– Pinterest inspired workout and run 3 miles.  Check! The three miles was rough.  The wind out here is KILLER this week.  I pushed through and finished it, so that’s all that matters!

Thursday – Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred Level 2 and walk 3 miles.

Friday – Pinterest inspired workout and run 2 miles.  (This one should be interesting! We’re going to see Zach Brown Band at the Houston Rodeo on Thursday night, so this may not happen.)

Saturday – Pick any Jillian workout that I want, and walk 2 miles.  If I get one of these done, I’ll be golden.

Sunday – Day o’ rest.  We’re going to watch Brantley Gilbert at the rodeo on Saturday, and I can’t promise I won’t be a drunken fool by the end of the show.

Can you tell I’m a little obsessed with Jillian Michaels? I think she’s so awesome and inspiring.  Well, that’s what I have so far.  I’m determined to fit into the really expensive BCBG dress that I spent an entire week’s worth of tip money on, so I need to stay on board with my eats, too.  I’ve had a weird tuna salad concoction every single day for lunch this week and we’re having baked chicken parmesan tonight.

If you want, you can follow me at Daily Mile.

Do you have a plan for your workouts every week?

If so, do you have any fun ideas for me to try that don’t require a gym membership?

Here it is, Houston!

ABOUT ME

Hey y’all! And welcome to Hungry and Healthy in Houston!  I’m an Alabama native that was forced to pack up and move to Houston for The Boy’s job.  I’m not complaining. I love it so far, although I’ve yet to meet many people between traveling back and forth to Alabama for the WEDDING!

The Boy and I are getting married on March 23rd and I’m not going to lie, I’m nervous.  Mainly b/c the aisle at the church is extremely long and I don’t like to be the center of attention! Here’s to hoping I can make it down it! The Boy’s name is Al and he’s an engineer for an oil company.  He works offshore on a 14 on, 14 off schedule, so that can be hard.  We make it work though.

MOTIVATION

My main motivation to be healthy is the wedding, but I have a feeling I’m going to need something else as soon as that is over and done with.  I’m hoping this blog can keep me accountable and help me to make healthier choices as I begin my new role as a wife.

In 2012, I ran my first half-marathon in San Antonio, Texas.  My hope is to run another fall race in 2013! I’m dying to try Cross Fit and plan on joining a box as soon as we get settled in April. I’ve been researching them for a while and think I’ve found a couple of good ones near our house.

CAREER

I’m a Registered Court Reporter, but Texas is crazy and has their own certification rules for court reporters.  My plan is to take the Texas certification test in June and pass with flying colors, of course!
