Wedding Wednesday!

Good morning! And happy hump day! (I don’t know why I wrote that, I hate the term “Hump Day.” It’s stupid!) ANNNNNNNYYYYYYWAY,

We still have a few odds and ends to tie up, but everything seems to be coming together nicely for next weekend. Let’s just hope like hell it stays that way!

– The Mom and I are going to talk about and hopefully finish up the wedding programs  today.

– We need to finish up the boxes for the out of town guests. I’ve worried about these so much, but I think they’re going to like what we’ve put together.  I would want it if I had to shack up at a hotel in Demopolis, Alabama for a whole weekend!

– I have my shower this weekend, and I’m SO EXCITED about it! I can’t wait to see everybody! I’m so ready for The Bestie to show her face! And to drink mimosas.  And to open gifts. Yep, it’s gonna be a good one!

If there’s one thing I’ve learned throughout this whole wedding process, it’s that you can’t please everybody.  As bad as I wanted, it just wasn’t feasible to have everybody be a bridesmaid, or go on the bachelorette trip.  At some point, you have to draw the line.  I knew where that line was.  I’m sorry if feelings got hurt, but that’s life!

If they were my friend to begin with, they’ll still be my friend at the end.  There are much more important things in life.  It’s just not feasible to try to please everybody all of the time!

– I’m starting to piece together a timeline for the weekend. I know nobody will follow it, things just don’t happen like that, but at least we’ll have something tentative to go by! Apparently I’m a bit of a control freak.  Who knew?? I’m working on it, but let’s just all pray and cross our fingers and toes that NOBODY GETS OFF OF THE SCHEDULE!!!!!! I’m pretty sure they all know there will be hell to pay if they don’t do what Lucinda and I say next weekend! I’ve already informed The Boy that his goals for the weekend are                                1) Do what I say.                                                                                                         2) Don’t do anything to piss me off, make me cry, etc.  He’s been warned!

– In all seriousness, I just want everybody to get along and have a blast! I’m sure with the group of people that we’ve chosen to be in the wedding, that won’t be a problem at all!

– I can start checking the 10 day forecast TOMORROW! Eeeekkk! I know that the weather is beyond my control, but I would still like to have some inkling of what it’s going to be like.WeddingDayRain Maybe I should invest in a cute umbrella, just in case!

I haven’t exercised yet today, but I’m thinking of going for a walk in a little while.  I just hope the wind isn’t blowing like crazy! Last time I tried to run in it, I looked like I got hit in the face with a broom! I guess it’s not that big of deal considering the fact that I have a huge dog scratch on it now! It hurts, but you can barely see it, so it’s all good.

Have a great Wednesday everybody!

Soda Bans and Childhood Obesity

Happy Tuesday!

I spent last night with my butt glued to the chair so that I could watch one of my favorite shows!

They’ve really spent a lot of time concentrating on childhood obesity this season, which I think is a great topic.  They even brought in three children who were obese and wanted to change.  I think The Biggest Loser changed their lives in more ways than one.  Not only did they lose weight, but they also learned how to eat healthy and to exercise! One of the children even got rid of their pre-diabetes, which I think is awesome! Why can’t some adults learn that all you have to do is change your diet and move! It’s not easy.  If it was, everyone would be doing it.

And it’s not a DIET.  It’s a lifestyle change!!  I was that kid.  And it was hard.  I wish somebody had taught me about healthy eating and exercise when I was a kid!

Moving on….As predicted, I can barely move today.  And I feel like tomorrow is going to be SO.MUCH.WORSE.  But it hurts so good! I feel great about myself and I don’t mind the soreness! At least this way I know that I’m doing something!

By the way, have y’all heard about Michael Bloomberg’s soda ban? I’m all about making healthy choices, and I’m NOT a fan of sodas, you can ask The Boy. But I DO NOT believe that somebody else should tell me what or how much I can drink! I love this stuff just as much as the next person! DietCokeBut if I want to drink a cold can of this deliciousness, that’s my decision.  It’s not a decision for somebody else to make! Just like if people don’t want to eat healthy or exercise, it’s their decision.  All we can do is try to motivate them!

I’ve already accomplished most everything that I want to do today.  I may need to go talk to somebody about the wedding programs this afternoon, but other than that and writing a couple of thank you notes, I’m FREE! I think I’m going to go sit outside this afternoon and read a book or either catch up on my Downton Abbey.  I’m pretty sure I fell asleep last night just as Lady Mary and Matthew Crawley were getting married! Don’t even ask how I fell asleep in one of the most exciting parts of the show. EVER!

Peace out!

Like Jelly.

Happy Marvelous in my Monday!

I hope everyone had an awesome weekend! I know I did, but I was so sad to see the rain set in last night.  Hopefully it will move on out of here in the  next couple of days!

Y’all go check out Katie’s blog.  She hosts “Marvelous in my Monday” every week and she’s awesome! I’m still new to all of this blog stuff, but she’s definitely one of my favorites!

Y’all, I got my butt kicked at CrossFit today.  Here’s what we did: IMAG0249Those dang burpees are NO JOKE.  My arms are feeling like jelly!

So, I looked up my training plan this morning for the 10k.  Here’s the plan for the week:

Monday – Stretch and strength (I’m going to CrossFit, so that should do it!)Tuesday – Run 2.5miles, CrossFit                                                                        Wednesday – 30 minutes of Cross training. CrossFit                                                 Thursday – I may go to Montgomery to see my friend’s new BABY, but I’m supposed to do 2 miles + strength.                                                                                     Friday – Rest. (I may just use Thursday as my rest day)                                            Saturday – 40 minutes cross training                                                                               Sunday 3.5 miles.

I’m going to do my best this week to keep up with the plan, but it’s going to be a tough one.  I have my bridal shower on Saturday, which The Bestie is coming for, and another bachelorette party Saturday night! It’s going to be a fun one, but I’ll definitely have to tweak the training schedule a little bit.

This morning, I’m about to go take care of some biznazz! It includes registering online for this: CruisetoJam

Carnival keeps sending annoying emails, so I guess I’ll go ahead and register just to shut them up! I wanted to wait a little closer to time, but there’s really no reason I can’t go ahead and take care of it!

For now, I’ll leave you with this: NightofDrinking

Have a great Monday!

A Winning Weekend

Hey hey! How has everybody’s weekend been? Mine has been awesome so far!

On Friday, The Mom and I went shopping in Montgomery, Alabama for some wedding things.  We FINALLY found a dress for her.  It was our 4th one! Annnnnd we have a winner!

Friday night included a bachelorette party for my friend Morgan that’s getting married on April the 6th! So many weddings, so little time! There may be pictures, but they’re probably definitely not internet material!

Saturday morning, I came home early to fix a wedding-related crisis.  I had accidentally left a couple of people off of the seating chart for the rehearsal dinner, so we fixed that.  Then I wrote thank you notes.  My hand may fall off before all of this is over and done! We’ve gotten some really great gifts though, and I’m so thankful for everything everyone is doing us to help with the wedding/showers, etc!

Saturday afternoon, The Mom and I drove to Gallion, Alabama where our family owns an old house.  They’re planning on fixing it up to be kind of like a camphouse, so we did a little cleaning while The Daddy (I tried to just put Dad, but I can’t do it! I’m definitely Southern!) mowed the grass.  I got a short walk/run in on the country road, and then I spent a good 20 minutes taking selfies.  I wasn’t bored or anything, was I? For your viewing pleasure: IMAG0245 Sorry for the cleavage pic! And I look like a mad scientist with the hairdo! But it was windy!

Anyway, I just got caught up with the thank you notes!! I also sent The Boy a timeline for the wedding week.  I’m sure he’s beyond thrilled to receive that!

I plan on spending this afternoon going for a run (I’m on day 4 of training for this!) And then I plan on watching some Downton Abbey! Have y’all seen this show yet? I’m at the end of season 2 and it’s awesome! It makes me want to run around talking in a British accent! Speaking of, I think I need to run to the loo!

DowntownHave a great Sunday!

A Love/Hate Relationship

ScaleThe scale.

I personally have a love/hate relationship with the scale.  In other words, I try to stay off the thing.

The scale does absolutely nothing for me.  I would rather judge my health by how “clean” I’ve been eating, how much exercise I’ve done, and the way I feel about myself.

I can tell after being bad for a couple of days how bloated I am, or how pissed off I get when I don’t exercise for a little while.  It’s not the Sarah that it should be.  I’ve gotten myself into some healthy habits and that’s AWESOME!

I can remember when I used to spend my days riding dirt roads with 12 packs of beer, eating an appetizer and a full meal every time I sat down.  It wasn’t a successful night unless we frequented the Krystal drive-thru.  I basically was a heart attack waiting to happen.  I don’t remember eating vegetables, I smoked pack after pack of cigarettes, and drank countless beers.

One day, something just snapped.  I realized how gross and horribly disgusting I felt and decided to do something about it! Since I was in the middle of a weight loss journey (and still am), I was getting on the scale a good bit.  But when the numbers wouldn’t go down, I got SO discouraged.  I was a goner by then, I felt that none of my hard work was paying off and I would get off track for a few days until I was ill as a hornet to everybody I knew.  Then I realized how bad I NEEDED to workout and what a habit it had now become for me.  I realized how I NEEDED to get my vegetables in, and that fried, fast food just wasn’t going to cut it for me.

I HATE the scale when those numbers don’t change.  But the way I feel when I’ve eaten right and exercised makes up for it.  And that’s why I don’t get on there  anymore.  It’s just not worth it to me. I would rather judge myself by the way I’m feeling.  That’s why, when I’ve been off track for a few days, I hop right back on.  It normally takes me about two days until I’m back feeling like myself again, but that’s okay.  You live and you learn.

I would so much rather be focused on balance than on some number!

If the scale brings you down as much as it did me, just stay off of it.  It’s not worth it! Judge your weight loss success by how much better your clothes fit! It’s a struggle. One that millions of Americans deal with every day, but you learn what works best for you and then follow that.  Don’t be discouraged by stupid little numbers!!

So that’s pretty much a quick overview of how my day has been! It started with a CrossFit workout, moved on to a run.  Then I made the most ridiculous concoction ever.  I’ll tell you what was in it if you promise not to be grossed out.  I have a tendency to do that to people, but this meal actually tasted really good.

Sweet potato, spinach, cherry tomatoes, leftover green beans, a hamburger patty, and mushrooms all tossed in buffalo sauce and warmed in the microwave.  Don’t turn your nose up, it was actually not half bad!

Then I got ROSES! From The Boy!!!!! He’s being extra nice.  Wonder if he’s done something bad?! KIDDING!

My hand is about to fall off from writing thank you notes.  And I’m going to spend a little while this afternoon brainstorming ideas to write about.  I’m thinking this blog needs some better content besides what happens in my day-to-day life. I’m sure y’all are already tired of my ramblings! Suggestions??

It’s Time

Happy Thursday!

I’ve been doing some researching and I think I’ve found a training plan for my 10k! It wasn’t hard, I’ve only used Hal Higdon training plans, so that seemed like the thing to do.  Here’s the plan that I’ll be following. HalHigdon10kTraining2.  I tried to post a picture of it, but I’m computer ignorant and can’t figure it out.

Anyway, I think I’m going to go ahead and start today.  Thursday of week 1 calls for a 2 mile run + strength training.  Shouldn’t be an issue.  I’m heading out the door in 5 for CrossFit. That will count as my strenth.  And the weather is supposed to be awesome this afternoon, so I have to get up off my butt and GO!

By the way, how bright am I today? Just a freaking ray of sunshine! I’m quite the little fashionista, too.  Blue bra, pink shirt, purple pants AND purple socks.  It’s time to do a load or two of laundry, don’t ya think? At least neons are “in” for workout clothes right now!IMAG0222

By the way, have y’all seen this? Snooki Loses 42 Pounds

Not who you want your children to be like, but you know y’all used to watch some Jersey Shore! It was definitely my guilty pleasure.  Who wouldn’t like watching all of those big gorillas get drunk?! Anyway, I think it’s awesome that she’s lost weight!

Also, have y’all heard this song? I’m so obsessed with it right now.  Speaking of music, I’ve GOT to get on downloading some songs!

Imagine Dragons – It’s Time

Oh shit! (Can I even cuss on here? What the hell, it’s my blog! I can if I want.) I just looked on the little sidebar and there are only 16 days left until the WEDDING. I had a small anxiety attack.

Anyway, I’m out! Have a great day!
